Position Description

The Senior Performance Excellence Consultant within the CHI Texas Division is a hospital based, or divisional, resource that manages process improvement efforts for their organization using structured Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. This position works with their director and the hospital leadership to identify opportunities, prioritize strategic improvements, facilitate and manage multidisciplinary teams and provide coaching to Green Belts and other Lean Practitioners to assure structured problem solving is applied and monitoring is put in place for sustainable improvements. This position will help assure that improvement efforts will cross all pillars of the organization’s strategy to balance the work between Operational Excellence, Clinical Excellence, Productivity Improvement, Revenue Cycle Improvements as well as seeking ways to always improvement patient, physician and employee satisfaction.

Responsible for making sure all departments in their organization are properly following the Lean Management System deployed by the CHI Texas Division. Acts as one of the Lean Leaders for various departments and coaches other Lean Leaders that re trained by the department of Performance Excellence.


Job Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's/Master’s Degree

Minimum years in field previous to employment:

  • Five (5) years related experience

  • Lean (or Lean Six Sigma) black belt certification, or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Provides project management during assignments that significantly impact the quality and financial bottom line of the system. Behaviors necessary to manage projects include formulating project plans, facilitating meetings, meeting tight and stressful timelines that ensure project success, initiating action balanced with good judgment to overcome project resistance, and achieving quality and financial results as specified in the project scope.

  2. Utilizes project integration behaviors that enhance customer and team relationships leading to successful change in outcomes. These include communicating clearly and concisely both orally and in written media, listening proactively which Leads to establishing rapport, building teamwork through the use of group process skills and negotiation skills, adapting to project changes proactively and projecting professionalism through appropriate dress and mannerisms. must generate credibility among executives and all levels of management and staff.

  3. Applies appropriate project analysis behaviors to model, evaluate, select and implement appropriate solutions leading to successful project outcomes. These include applying financial, quality, productivity, information technology, and business concepts. must understand business systems and their interplay throughout the system.

  4. Measures customer satisfaction utilizing an agreed-upon format periodically throughout the life of a project and at the end of every project. Ensures that project participants understand the impact and outcome of the project.

  5. Successfully applies the above skills utilizing tools and approaches from the field such as organizational assessments, external benchmarking, scorecard analysis, re-engineering theory and implementation, workload measurement, workflow modeling, performance improvement theory, computer competencies, performance observation, cost-benefit analysis, knowledge sharing, and coaching and mentoring.

  6. Develops, monitors and reports on specific measurable performance criteria with indications of improvement from the commencement of the project.

  7. Utilizes an evidence-based approach to all projects and encourages commitment to the model in others. Researches for cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities throughout the system. Stays current on local and national healthcare trends, benchmarks, and relevant technologies.

  8. Provides teaching and mentoring to department managers regarding budgets and operationalizing goals and objectives to meet or exceed budget. Prepares and gives Workshops/lectures on related topics.
