Responsibilities

Under general supervision, Echo Vascular Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations of the cerebral, peripheral, and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation in accordance with established practices and procedures.

  1. Produce two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of heart and related structures, using ultrasound equipment, for use by physician in diagnosis of heart disease and study of heart.

  2. Calculate, measure, and document appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians.

  3. Perform diagnostic carotid arterials and venous studies of upper and lower extremities and venous studies of patients with suspected peripheral vascular disease by following ICAVL guidelines.

  4. Explain procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties of patient.

  5. Review test results with interpreting physician.

  6. Communicate with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram.

  7. Conduct vascular laboratory studies in accordance with the vascular laboratory protocols.

  8. Maintain the vascular laboratory quality assurance database.

  9. May perform therapeutic procedures such as peripheral compression.

  10. Prepare and maintain operational logs.

  11. Ensure that all vascular laboratory studies are scheduled in an appropriate manner to satisfy the clinical situation.

  12. Calibrate and maintain equipment and orders supplies when needed.

  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Licensure

  • Associate degree in related field preferred.

  • Successfully passed the Echocardiography Registry Exam required.

  • 2 current/valid certifications from the following list required: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Vascular Technologist, or Registered Vascular Sonographer

Minimum Experience

  • 1 year related experience in an Echo/Vascular Laboratory required.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must possess an excellent working knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy/pathology, the cardiac patient, and treatment of cardiac diseases.

  • Working knowledge of vascular arterial and venous anatomy for carotid and peripheral vasculature.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Good computer skills.

  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.

Pay Range

$27.77 - $40.27 /hour
