Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that appropriate reimbursement resources are in place for services provided to ensure the financial viability of Saint Francis Hospital. This includes: Accurate and timely assessment of payer and patient legal liability; Compliance with industry state federal and local regulations and requirements; Adherence to government and non-government program requirements; Effectively communicating with patients as to program requirements personal payment liabilities and options for care and placement that allow for informed decisions by the patient and his/her family while protecting the financial interest of Saint Francis Hospital. Qualifications

Experience

Five years Patient Accounting experience within the last 7 years preferably in an acute care setting.

Education

A.A. College Degree with emphasis in Business Administration Public Administration or Public Health Administration.

Special Skills

Must effectively operate a 10 key adding machine by touch and must type 40 words per minute with minimal errors (5 or less.) Language Skills: Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate discounts do financial budgets to determine if a patient will be eligible for Medi-Cal. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems collects data establishes facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. This position is faced with many problems on a daily basis. No two problems are the same.

Pay Range

$38.14 - $43.36 /hour
