Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Market Director of Respiratory Services, established departmental policies and procedures, and specific instructions, the Certified Respiratory Therapist provides care to those suffering from acute and chronic respiratory problems. Maintains patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and effective communication with physicians, staff and patients. Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test. Assists patients with basic patient care needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Level

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED &

  • Completion of a Respiratory Care Degree Program, which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.

Licensure/Certification

Required:

  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) &

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) &

  • BLS certification (through an approved AHA program) &

  • ACLS certification (through an approved AHA program) – *Must be obtained within 90 days of hire &/or transfer into position.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Pay Range

$21.23 - $29.20 /hour
