Catholic Health Initiatives RN Lead Operating Room in Lexington, Kentucky

Overview

As our surgical services lead nurse at CHI Saint Jospeh East, you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable. Participates in maintaining staff competencies through education, mentoring and role modeling. Supports the Nurse Manager in interviewing and hiring employees; training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and mentoring/coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Every day you will go over consent forms, answer questions about the procedure, do preoperative assessments, make sure the equipment is ready to go, and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.

To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking, remain calm under pressure, and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.

Saint Joseph East is a 217-bed full-service community hospital located in the rapidly growing southeastern section of Lexington Kentucky. We provide care for patients in Fayette and surrounding counties. At Saint Joseph East ambulatory surgery 24-hour emergency care and women’s health services are supported through a vast array of inpatient and outpatient program. Additional specialty services include Heart Care Breast Care Sleep Care and Weight Loss Surgery. Responsibilities

THIS JOB OFFERS AN INCENTIVE:

We are offering a $25,000 Sign on Bonus OR up to $24,000 towards student loan payback assistance to new hires who meet the following eligibility requirements.

  • Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR

  • Care for patients before, during, and after procedures

  • Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients

  • Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies

  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

Qualifications

We are looking for a responsible and compassionate Registered Nurse with top-notch clinical skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.

Additional requirements for this role include:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • 2 years of perioperative nursing experience required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required

  • BSN preferred

Pay Range

$31.50 - $45.68 /hour
