Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
Performs all duties of a Lab Assistant I in addition to the following responsibilities: (1.) daily coordination of section
assignments to ensure efficient specimen collection and processing if applicable; (2.) training and continuing education
of section employees, (3.) maintaining quality assurance records and (4.) monitoring maintenance records.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
All duties as described for Lab Assistant I
Performs and documents routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
Provides technical assistance in the frozen and gross rooms
Receives and processes laboratory specimens
Assists with the accurate filling and retrieval of paraffin blocks and glass slides
Coordinates training and continuing education programs for section personnel ensuring complete check‐off and
readiness of all employees to perform any assigned task, with appropriate documentation according to section Standard
Operating Procedure
Ensures that all outpatient requisitions include all required information (diagnosis, physician signature, etc.).
Monitors maintenance records and daily quality control ensuring all instrumentation and Workstations are in good
working order
Maintains inventory of supplies, notifying manager/assistant supervisor of needed supplies to order
Assists manager/supervisor with problem solving and brainstorming to continue the improving of the efficiency of
the section
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
*High School Diploma/GED
*Two (2) years of relevant work experience
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
and Training
*Leadership capabilities – ability to organize, prioritize and
delegate
Pay Range
$16.30 - $22.42 /hour
